Finding Hotel Rooms for a Large Family

By Jen | January 12, 2009

As Number One Travel Agent to a family of six, I have always found it a challenge to find a place where we can all stay comfortably.  I can’t count the number of times we’ve snuck one or two kids into a hotel, hoping that by laying down a couple of sleeping bags and a pillow, they’d sleep well.

Usually, I opt for getting a vacation rental if we’re going to be staying somewhere for more than a couple of days.  For a variety of reasons I find this option works out best for us (which I’ll detail in another post soon!).

But today I found a great resource for finding lodging that can accommodate larger families.

SixSuitcaseTravel.com lists over 2500 family hotels and suites in over 1100 cities across the US that can make room for everyone in your family. Each listing has been verified to suit families of five or six, so you can peruse it knowing you’re on the right track for for finding the right spot.

I did a quick search of the site and the list appears to be comprehensive and easy to use.  And, if you know of any hotels that fit the bill but aren’t listed, you can easily let the webmaster know and suggest it for inclusion.
